New York: Origin of Poetic Education for the World

In October 2019, a session of the Biobío International Poetry Festivals (FIPBB SESSION) was held in New York City, at St. John's University. Activity that ultimately motivated the creation of an international movement, which brings together poets and educators aware of the role that poetry should play in education at a global level.

En el mes de octubre de 2019 se realizó en la ciudad de Nueva York en la Universidad de St. John´s, una sesión de los Festivales Internacionales de Poesía del Biobío (FIPBB SESSION). Actividad que a la postre motivó la creación de un movimiento internacional, que reúne a poetas y educadores conscientes del rol que debe ocupar la poesía en la educación a nivel global.

The invitation made by Professor Marie-Lise Gazarian to carry out one of the 2019 FIPBB sessions at St. John's University in New York, consolidated the purpose of carrying out global activism.

It was the turning point that led to the idea of forming an organization with the capacity to move the consciences of a society that ignores the benefits of an education in connection with poetry as a source of cognitive, emotional and spiritual development. Thus the chapter Poetic Education for the World in New York becomes the globalizing action of a local action.

Also residing in New York, Chilean writer Esteban Escalona has been invited as Associate Director of Poetic Education for the World, and North American poet and educator Maureen Altman as Coordinator for that city.

La invitación realizada por la profesora Marie-Lise Gazarian para efectuar una de las sesiones de los FIPBB 2019 en la St. John's University en Nueva York, consolido el propósito de realizar un activismo de carácter global.

Fue el punto de inflexión que provocó la idea de formar una organización con la capacidad de mover las conciencias de una sociedad que ignora los beneficios de una educación en conección con la poesía como fuente de desarrollo cognitivo, emocional y espiritual. Así el capítulo Poetic Education for the World en Nueva York, se convierte en la acción globalizante de una acción local.

También con domicilio en Nueva York, se ha invitado como Director Asociado de Poetic Education for the World, al escritor chileno Esteban Escalona y como Coordinadora para esa ciudad, a la poeta y educadora norteamericana, Maureen Altman.

A modo de homenaje a mi amiga Marie-Lise Gazarian, este poema que escribí a propósito de mi último encuentro con ella en Nueva York. Fue un gran honor haberte conocido, tal vez en un nuevo mundo nos podamos volver a encontrar.
